Notifications and email

How Bridge makes sure no message waits, on your side and on your visitor's side.

Push notifications

Every new visitor message sends a notification to your phone and computer, even when Bridge is closed. Turn them on in Settings → Notifications, once per device.

On iPhone, notifications only work in the installed app: open bridgechat.app in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Open Bridge from your home screen and turn notifications on.

Email backup

If a visitor message stays unread for 5 minutes, everyone on that website's team gets an email with the message. Reply to that email and your answer goes straight to the visitor. Each team member can turn this off in Settings → Notifications.

Visitors who left

When you answer a visitor who left your site, and they gave their email, Bridge emails them your reply after 2 minutes. They can click to come back to the chat, or simply reply to the email: their answer comes back into the same conversation.

Replying by email, safely

Every email Bridge sends has its own reply address, unique to the conversation and to the person it was sent to. Replies from anyone else are refused, and the quoted history ("On … wrote:") is removed so only the new text appears in the conversation.
