Identify your visitors
Visitors start anonymous ("Visitor #4821"). Tell Bridge who they are and your inbox shows their name, email and the details that matter to you.
Bridge.identify
Bridge.identify({
email: "jane@acme.com",
name: "Jane Cooper",
company: "Acme",
plan: "Pro", // custom attribute
signup_date: new Date("2026-09-14"),
});Call it as often as you like: values are merged into the contact, and empty values never erase what Bridge already knows.
Fields
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
email | The contact's email. Turns an anonymous visitor into a lead. |
name, phone, company | Contact details shown on the contact card and in the inbox. |
| Any other key | A custom attribute: text, number, true/false or date (dates are stored as YYYY-MM-DD). |
Custom attributes
To see a custom attribute on the contact card, and use it in segments and automations, create it in Settings → Attributes with the same key (for example plan). Keys you haven't created yet are stored and appear as soon as you create them.
When to call it
- After sign-in, and on each page load while the user is signed in.
- After sign-up.
- When a visitor submits a form with their email: newsletter, quote request, contact form.
- At checkout, before sending them to the payment page.
Before the script has loaded
window.Bridge exists once the widget script has loaded. To call it from code that may run earlier, queue the call: it runs as soon as Bridge is ready.
window.Bridge = window.Bridge || [];
window.Bridge.push(["identify", { email: "jane@acme.com", name: "Jane Cooper" }]);When the user signs out
Forget the visitor, so the next person using the same browser starts fresh:
Bridge.reset();Post your own form into the chat
Already have a contact form? Send its content into the conversation, so you can answer it from Bridge:
Bridge.identify({ email: form.email, name: form.name });
Bridge.send(`New message from the contact form:\n\n${form.message}`);
